The Reed
We grow the Reed — a round, low-fibre, almost custard-like avocado that most Indians have never tasted fresh.
Unlike the Hass, it stays green when ripe. You read it by feel: press gently under the stem, and it’s ready when it just gives.
Reed vs. Hass
Why the fruit you receive behaves differently to the supermarket avocado.
| Reed | Hass | |
|---|---|---|
| Shape | Round | Pear-shaped |
| Skin when ripe | Stays green | Darkens |
| Flesh | Buttery, low-fibre | Nutty, firmer |
| Ripeness cue | Gives under the stem | Goes black |
